I found these jeans at the GAP outlet in Orlando. They were marked down to $12, and then there was an additional 40% off. Woot. They are a teensy bit big, but after their first wash should fit perfectly. Based on the tags, I don't think this is a GAP outlet product, but something originally from the regular stores. On another note, this Loft jacket was still in my stores as of today, marked down to $29.99 (of course, before the 40% off coupon).

Wednesday - Final Day!

Its the last day of conference, and then I fly home. I wore a skirt earlier in the day, and then changed into jeans for the travel. :-) I wore the same cardi 2x this week, but I doubt anyone would notice.

Sunday - Travelling

Hey everyone! I am travelling for work this upcoming week. I did not get to do any shopping this weekend, anyone see anything good out there?

When I fly I pretty much just wear jeans and a cardigan set. Keep it comfy. I also carry a large pashmina scarf that I can cover up with or wrap around my shoulders if I get cold.

Cha Cha Cha Changes

Oh hai.

Look what I did.

My first hair length change in a DECADE. I'd say it was time.

Ok, onto these jeans. When you look at my body from the front, the widest part is my thighs. Lucky me, I know. :-p haha. So, I usually need things wider in the leg area to fit. These jeans are perfect. I got them from JJill (who carries 18P woot). I used a coupon when I got them and paid $18. Slightly MIA this week.

I love this skirt and it comes in Petite, Women and Women's Petite still. Runs $39.99 before 20% off.


The Coldwater Creek outlet is still 40% off, and save $25 off $50 with coupon code WHH3264. Sizing is all over the place, but some very solid basic options for work here - especially the pants. They offer misses, petites, women's and some women's petites. My favorite black twill pants are from CC, and they are great!

Eddie Bauer has 25% off everything on their site with code 25Summer exp. 5.23. They also carry misses, petites women's and talls - and not just bottoms in the talls!! They recently revamped the women's tops for a better fit but do not have enough options yet. I always love it when sites carry 18P, because its somewhat hard to find, but EB does carry it! This shirt is regular price (before the 25% off), but I think its super pretty.

Busy Weekend

This was actually my Sat outfit - we ran around just doing errands etc. I really only am posting because this is my $5.99 shirt from Ny and CO. Its a large, and I wish I could have found an XL - when its buttoned it fits like a fitted work blouse, and I would have liked something slouchier, but it does fit nicely, just a little different than I would have preferred, and will make a nice addition to the closet.

The tee is just a Walmart 'wifebeater' (do you think that term came from A Streetcar Named Desire?) and the skirt is that Chino skirt from Target I mentioned in the past.

Today we went and saw a matinee of "Wicked" and it was really, really good. If it comes to your town, I suggest going to see it! I don't have pics of my outfit from that - we totally forgot to take pics before leaving. :-/

Happy Friday!

Hubby and I swung by the mall briefly before dinner, and look at what my NY and CO looked like.....


Yes, much of the back half of the store, and assorted parts of the front were $5.99. It was sort of random with $5.99 signs all over. I scored jeans for my daughter and got myself a denim shirt. If this store is one you like, you should check it out! :-) Oh, not to mention there is an additional 15% off all purchases.

Inspiration: Lena Horne

I actually meant to post these images a while back, but hadn't fully committed to a posting schedule for the style inspiration images. Today, when I heard about the passing of Lena Horne, I decided there was no time like the present.

Lena Horne was born and grew up in Brooklyn and Philadephia, mostly raised by her suffragette grandmother. She began her career in the Cotton Club in the 30s, and went on to perform in several movies - however, just like my previous inspiration, Dorothy Dandridge, Horne was only in segments that could be cut from theaters that banned blacks in certain roles on screen. Meaning, they could never be in roles that had an effect on the actual story of the film because every scene with a black person would be edited out in the South. No characters, no lines. After what sounds to be a frustrating time in Hollywood, she returned to music in the 50s. Later in life, she played the part of Glinda the Good in "The Wiz".

This was a really short blurb, and if you are interested, or have some time, read some of her interviews about her experiences. So interesting! She was 92 years old when she passed today - I recommend you listen to a few of her songs, most notably Stormy Weather. I hope you enjoy these photos!

Happy Mothers Day!

Here is my daughter and I on Mother's Day. We went and saw Iron Man 2 (as good as the first, IMHO) and went to eat at a local yummy eatery.

This jacket is the same as the Navy one I have, but when I heard the Loft had new markdowns this past week, I went to check it out. This was marked down to $30, so I grabbed it. This top is what my daughter picked out as my mother's day gift. :-)
