This weekend...
Ann Taylor Loft - All full price pieces are 20% off. When I went into my local store at lunch, they had marked down a couple of racks of clothes to $4.88. I got a dress, skirt and jacket for $4.88 each. They had some awesome stuff on that rack.
New York and Company - All full price items are buy one, get one 50% off, and then if you are shopping online, use coupon 3549 for another 30% off. I have these in my cart..but am still debating the sweater color. I tried this skirt on before and love it. The total is $39.50 with the code.

Talbots - Still having their 50% off clearance - lots of good items to pick up. They just re-cut their pants, and if you go into a store, and try on a pair, you get a $5 coupon. Then use the $5 coupon on your clearance finds! :-)
Chadiwcks is offering 20% off clearance Code CHCLEARANCE or, for regular priced items, 40% off one item with code CH21058 or $20 off $60 with code CHE20. Right now they are offering flat rate shipping of $6.99 - NO CODE NEEDED - which is unheard of for them. You can use these code with the lower shipping. Love these:

Old Navy - Some fun in store stuff. They are continuing the $19 jeans deal, and Sat, you can get a free graphic tee to boot. Also, in-store clearance has been 50% off at many stores. If you are going to head in, be sure to print an in-store coupon from http://www.oldnavyweekly.com/ just click around til you find a good coupon. The $10 off $50 isn't bad, might still be some others if you click around. You can only choose one, so pick wisely. :-)

Deals on Jewelry
I buy lots of my costume jewelry from an ebay seller (MyTag) who buys clearance lots from Macy's. Most of my necklaces that cost a few dollars came from said seller.
The most recent item I bought was inspired by Patina :-) It was $12 shipped, and the most expensive thing I have bought from them. I can't wait to get it!
Check them out from time to time, see if you like anything they have.

Sorry guys - fixed the link to the seller. :-)

Reap rewards without the store credit card
I mentioned yesterday that i got my sweater for free after using a rewards coupon. A few of the stores I shop at offer a rewards, or basically a loyalty program. If you see that a store you shop at offers one, that is not related to a store credit card, you should sign up.
Basically they track your spend through a number. Once you reach a certain amount, they send you a shopping certificate. This really works best for stores you are a regular shopper of, but if you are, there is no reason not to sign up! :-)
These are the ones I belong to:
Talbots - Red Classic Awards .5pts awarded per dollar spent, at 500 points, you get a $25 gift certificate. Because they do double points events, its fairly easy to hit this mark if you shop there regularly. Points expire annually.
Eddie Bauer Friends 10pts for each dollar spent, and $10 reward for each 1750 points hit ($175) within a quarter.
Speigel Signature Rewards 1pt for each dollar spent, and $10 rewarded per $250 spent. These point never expire! And as time goes by more rewards are offered for higher point levels.
DSW Rewards - 10 points per dollar for regular priced merch, and 5 pts per dollar for clearance. At 1500 points ($150), $10 rewards. Points expire after 24 months. There are 500 bonus points for joining right now.
How about you? Are you part of any clothing reward programs that do not require a store credit card?

What makes it a **Deal**?
With so many stores having sales, clearances and coupons, it can be hard to cut through the noise, and figure out what is really worth buying. Knowing that these are items that people did not want to pay full price for, we have to make sure they are indeed a hidden treasure that people just missed out on, and not just cheap closet filler!
Believe me, I have had my share of "flops" when it comes to the sales rack, and have added a checklist to my brain. I run through the questions quickly when I am facing 4-5 shopping carts online, or an overly fruitful shopping trip.
1. Does this mix with items already in my wardrobe?
I try and think of 3 outfits using the item and items already in my closet. If I can't do it quickly, it goes back on the rack. If it is a crossover piece (both work and play), even better. Once I get it home, I does it actually work with the outfits I imagined? Does it fit with others instead? If not, it must be returned.
2. Is the item itself already in my closet?
I try and think if I am buying a duplicate item. Will it fill a hole I have, or is it just another "xyz"? I am notorious for picking up black cardigans. I already have a short sleeve sweater, a 3/4 length one and a long sleeve one. I am still inexplicably drawn to black cardigans. Once I run through this question, it gets hard to explain to myself exactly why THIS black cardigan will fill a need one of the other 3 doesn't already fill.
3. What does it feel like?
Am I just buying something because its cheap? What is the fabrication? Is it cotton, wool, silk? Or is it a cheapy polyester top that is going to unravel after 2 or 3 wears. Are the sleeves binding? If I put it on, and it feels like heaven? Keeper. If anything is itchy or uncomfortable - back on the rack it goes!
4. How does it fit? Really?
The fit must be as perfect as something I would pay full price for. No exceptions. If I am in a store, (or once I get the item) The first thing I do is sit down. When I stand back up, am I playing the tugging game? This is a big problem due to the curves. Do the sleeves or hem fit and hang properly? If not, will I get it hemmed? Really? Honestly? If there any any doubts on the fit, it goes back on the rack, or back to the store.
If the item has made it ALL the way through the list, and I like the price, its worth coming home. This is how I kill the noise, and focus on adding just the things I need.
A "final word" on final sales: Stores are adding a "wonderful" category called Final Sale. You cannot return the items for refund or exchange. It makes it very hard to make a good decision when shopping online - thats kind of the point. These are items no one else purchased for some reason, so be wary. If its a store you are familiar with, and know the sizing, you can probably feel ok with your buy, but just be ready to possibly lose the money, or have a plan to offload the item for some of the cash back.

Playing with Polyvore - Wearing Yellow?

yellow by bchez featuring Forever21
So, Miss Masala wore a yellow top that looked beautiful on her...Yellow is one of those colors I normally run from - but I love seeing it on others.
Now being short and curvy, I don't usually wear a shoe with a strap across the ankle, no matter how beautiful they are, but with the trousers, the pant will cover the offending portion, and still allow the rest of the pump to show through. Also, I actually own this cardigan in a couple of colors, and its a bit more roomy in the correct size that the model shows. I wear them over tops like this frequently. I LOVE the zipper flowers, I have been stalking some etsy brooches, but this UO necklace was too cute!!
Anyways, just playing - what do you think?
Items are from Talbots, Faith 21 (F21 line) Limited, Urban Outfitters, Black House White Market, QVC, Ecko

OOTD August 21 - 80s in full effect!
Channeling My Inner Don Johnson

So, You may have noticed that the 80s are making a minor come back (ha!) in the fashion industry. Today, when I walked by that huge mirror in the bathroom at work, I was struck by how similar my outfit was to something Mr. Sonny Crocket from Miami Vice would wear. LOL! When I got home I googled him, and look at that! Greyish jacket, pink top and white pants!!! I lived in Miami in the 80s so perhaps some small memory from then informed this outfit.

The Stuff:
Heathered Jacket - Talbots $13
Coral Top - Loft $25 w/ coupon (avaliable in fall colors now)
White Jeans - Old Navy $20
Caramel Peep Toes - Rampage via Amazon $16
Chain and Necklace - Judith Ripka via QVC

OOTD Aug 19 - Something Wicked This Way Comes

Wicked is definitely one of my favorite books. When I saw the sweater I have on today, I imagined that it is the color Elphaba's (the wicked witch) skin must be. Inspired by the book cover laying on my bedroom floor, I derived this outfit. The color is more like the full photo - it comes out greener in the detail pic.

The Stuff
Sweater - Talbots $30
Skirt - Spiegel - $29
Tee - Talbots - $8
Shoes - Aerosoles
Necklace by Macy's $4

Playing with Polyvore - Lands End + Luxury =??
I was over at Land's End tonight, looking at their Overstock section. I noticed that their patterned tops look very similar to the patterns people love from Boden. Here is a set featuring a $7.99 pair of Khakis, which they will fit to your leg length - for ummm no charge???!!, a 19.99 button down and a $30 Washable Wool Jacket.
The top can be worn now with late summer accessories, then later in the fall with a jacket. Ok, so I am going to spring for the $8 pants, anyone want to buy the Louboutins as a gift for me?

Ok, so there is somethingon me that that isn't usually there - can you guess what it is?
If you said a belt, you'd be right. I do not usually wear them. I dont particularly like how they fit me - having a VERY short waist, they don't often fit well. However, I do like this one - and might pick up more in the future.
The Stuff:
Jersey Tee - Speigel $22.00 after coupon
